Trump trapped into war with Iran, says Liaqat Baloch
Vehari, March 11: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Vice-Emir and Milli Yakjehti Council Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, has said that Zionist forces trapped US President Donald Trump into a war with Iran, adding that the United States has faced a third defeat in Iran.
Addressing a public mega Iftar gathering in Vehari, speaking to the media, and addressing meetings with political, local government and civil society leaders, Baloch said that despite American aggression and the imposition of an unjust war, Iran’s political system remains strong and stable.
He said that following the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the selection of the new leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei reflects the resilience and success of Iran’s governing system. According to Baloch, Iran’s success against the United States and Israel would represent a victory for the Muslim world and a defeat for aggression and oppression.
Criticizing Trump’s proposed Board of Peace initiative, he termed it a fraud, saying the deception behind the plan has now been exposed. He urged Muslim countries to withdraw from the so-called initiative and instead unite independently to safeguard the interests of the Muslim world. He also warned that American military bases in the Middle East and other regions pose a serious threat to Muslim countries.
Responding to questions, Baloch said Pakistan achieved success through operations by the Pakistan Army against terrorist centers. However, he cautioned that wars increase risks and emphasized that diplomacy and negotiations remain the only sustainable path to reducing tensions.
He said that if the leadership of the Taliban is willing to restore dialogue and relations, Pakistan should revive mediation channels involving China, Turkey and Qatar to normalize ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He added that strong relations among Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan are essential to counter growing threats from colonial powers in the region.
Baloch also criticized the government over rising fuel prices, saying that despite declining global oil prices, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should immediately withdraw the recent increase. He said the government is squeezing the blood of the public through the oil business and selling fuel at inflated prices despite purchasing it at lower rates, calling it a grave example of state injustice.
He further urged the government to stop burdening citizens in order to meet shameful conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund. Rising production costs of essential commodities and food items, he said, have devastated agriculture, industry and trade, while making daily household expenses increasingly unbearable.
Baloch criticized the Government of Punjab for hollow claims of development, saying the people of Punjab remain deprived of an empowered local government system. He added that farmers and the agricultural sector are suffering due to flawed policies, public schools are being sold at throwaway prices, and unemployment among youth is rising sharply alongside increasing drug addiction.
