'System' of loot, plunder in name of governance continues in Sindh: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman
Says both MQM and PPP responsible for Karachi’s destruction; yet part of federal government
Sindh government devoured Rs 3,360 billion of Karachi’s funds in 15 years
Dubs Israeli attack on Hamas negotiation team in Qatar as “worst incident in human history,” holds Trump responsible for it

KARACHI, SEPTEMBER 12: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that in Sindh, loot and corruption are running as a “system” in the name of governance, and responsibility for the chaos also lies with those who imposed such rulers through Form-47.
The JI Pakistan supreme leader expressed these views while addressing a press conference held at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters, here on Friday.
He held the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pakistan People Party (PPP) primarily responsible for Karachi’s devastation, adding that both parties were still part of the federal government.
He said even after 20 years the K-IV water supply project remained incomplete, while the Green Line bus project has not been fully functional despite three successive governments. The Red Line project has turned into a torment for Karachi’s residents, he said, adding, “The PPP-led Sindh government does not even consider Karachi as part of the province, it has only occupied it for looting purposes.”
Hafiz Naeem pointed out that the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) Award has not been issued for the past one and half decades, and during this time the Sindh government has swallowed Rs 3,360 billion supposed to be delivered to Karachi, with the federal government equally complicit.
“The PPP is nothing but another name for one family and 40 feudal lords. The imposed mayor Murtaza Wahab represents landlords and feudal elites instead of Karachi’s citizens,” he added.
Commenting on the flood situation across the country, he said while natural disasters can be blamed, the criminal negligence of rulers is equally responsible. “Flood-hit areas should be declared calamity-stricken. Billions are wasted on ribbon-cutting ceremonies of projects like Diamer-Bhasha Dam, yet non-controversial dams including Chiniot, Rakhuri, Skardu, and Swan remain incomplete,” he added. He also criticized PTI’s claims of massive tree plantation in KP, saying instead deforestation increased under its government.
Highlighting the JI’s relief work, he said nearly 15,000 Alkhidmat Foundation volunteers have been mobilised in flood relief efforts from Chitral to Karachi.
On the occasion, he announced that the JI will hold a massive historic Ijtema-e-Aam on November 21-23 at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore, to launch a large-scale movement to change the system. “We invite the youth and the entire nation to participate,” he said.
He further noted that Buner, Bajaur, Swat, Shangla, Swabi, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir have witnessed widespread destruction due to floods, while in Punjab thousands were injured and nearly three million displaced.
Specifically talking about Karachi’s condition, Hafiz Naeem said the city has been turned into ruins, with all institutions under PPP’s control.
For the K-IV project, Rs. 40 billion were required but only Rs. 3 billion were released. “The water system has collapsed, tanker mafias rule the city, and people are forced to buy water at exorbitant rates. Karachi, the economic hub of the country, is deprived of basic facilities while its funds are siphoned off,” he said.
Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman rejected the call for cooperation from Mayor Murtaza Wahab. “How can we join hands with those who have only united to plunder people’s money? Establishment and ruling parties alike are unwilling to truly own Karachi,” he said.
Talking about the global front, Hafiz Naeem strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Hamas’s negotiation team in Qatar, terming it the worst incident in human history. He held US President Donald Trump responsible for it and said that the entire Muslim world must unite against Israel. “Pakistan, being the only Muslim nuclear power, has the capability to lead this front,” he asserted, reiterating JI’s full support for the Global Samud Flotilla. He also criticized the UN for failing to fulfill its responsibility on Palestine.
JI Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan, Naib Ameers Saifuddin Advocate and Muslim Pervez, JI Karachi Secretary Taufiquddin Siddiqui, Deputy Secretaries Abdul Razzaq Khan and Younus Barai, Central Information Secretary Shakeel Ahmed Turabi, Karachi Information Secretary Zahid Askari, and Public Aid Committee Secretary Najeeb Ayoubi flanked the JI leader at the presser.
