Mass Rallies, Seminars, and Protests Held Nationwide on Appeal of JI Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman
Islamabad/Lahore: August 05: On the call of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, “Kashmir and Palestine Rights Day” was observed across the country on Tuesday.
Jamaat-e-Islami organized mass rallies, protest marches, seminars, and conferences in major cities to condemn the ongoing Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and Israeli aggression in Gaza. A large number of citizens participated in these events, demanding that the government take concrete steps in support of oppressed Muslims globally.
A central protest was held in Islamabad, led by JI Vice Emir Liaqat Baloch, who addressed the gathering and called for urgent international attention to the humanitarian crises in Kashmir and Palestine.
In Lahore, a major seminar titled “Kashmir and Palestine Rights Day” was held at Syed Maudoodi Islamic Centre, organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore. The event was presided over by JI Secretary General Ameerul Azeem, with key address by JI AJK leader Abdul Rasheed Turabi. Speakers highlighted the enduring struggles of both regions and emphasized global Muslim solidarity.
Large public protests were also organized in Peshawar, Karachi, Quetta, and various other districts. In Punjab, cities including Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Chiniot, and Okara witnessed vibrant demonstrations, with widespread participation from citizens and JI leadership.
In Sindh and Balochistan, rallies were held in Karachi, Umerkot, Badin, Mirpur Khas, and other towns, where demonstrators raised slogans in support of the people of Kashmir and Palestine and condemned the silence of the global community.
Meanwhile, speaking at the Lahore seminar, JI Secretary General Ameerul Azeem said the Muslim Ummah must not rely on rulers and generals but rise through organized public movements to support freedom in Kashmir and Palestine. “August 5, 2019, was a black day in Kashmiri history, but their struggle for freedom remains undeterred,” he said, recalling the legacy of Syed Ali Geelani and the continued resistance in Srinagar and Gaza.
Abdul Rasheed Turabi emphasized the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and condemned India's revocation of Article 370 and 35-A, which stripped Kashmir of its special status. “Kashmir has become the world’s largest open-air prison, and the silence of the UN and international powers is criminal,” he stated.
A resolution passed at the seminar reaffirmed full support for the ongoing freedom movements in both Kashmir and Palestine and called on the global community to break its silence and act against the brutalities committed by India and Israel.
