LAHORE-June 16: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman at Mansoorah.
During the meeting, the two leaders held detailed discussions on the country’s overall political, economic, and law and order situation, as well as the rapidly changing regional scenario.
The meeting also focused on developments following the Iran-US understanding and its possible impact on regional peace and stability. Both leaders termed the understanding a positive step towards promoting peace, stability, and ending tensions in the region.
Appreciating Islamabad’s role in facilitating the Iran-US understanding, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that Pakistan’s efforts for lasting peace in the region were commendable. He said that the country’s historic role in this regard would always be remembered, adding that the development had paved the way for greater peace and stability across the region.
Rehman also raised the issue of Pakistani citizens stranded in Somalia and urged the government to play an effective diplomatic role for their immediate and safe evacuation. He stressed that all necessary measures should be taken to ensure the protection and assistance of the stranded Pakistanis.
The JI Emir and the Interior Minister also held detailed discussions on the country’s economic situation and challenges faced by the people. Rehman emphasized the need for effective measures to provide relief to the public, reduce inflation, and improve the national economy.
Mohsin Naqvi briefed Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman on Iran-US negotiations and the steps taken by the government of Pakistan in this regard. He said that Prime Minister and the Field Marshal played a key and unforgettable role in efforts for regional peace.
“Pakistan deserves credit for helping end tensions in the region,” Naqvi said.
