JI Emir meets Qatar ambassador, discusses Gaza and Gulf situation
Islamabad, March 5: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman met Qatar’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ali bin Mubarak Al Khater at the Qatari Embassy in Islamabad on Thursday and discussed the regional situation, including the crisis in Gaza and tensions in the Gulf.
Director of Foreign Affairs of Jamaat-e-Islami Asif Luqman Qazi was also present during the meeting.
During the talks, the two sides discussed the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the situation emerging after the US and Israeli attacks on Iran, and the ongoing war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan are harmful for peace in the region and stressed that Muslim countries should resolve disputes through dialogue.
He appreciated Qatar’s past diplomatic role on issues related to Gaza and Afghanistan, saying that Doha’s policies had enhanced its prestige and respect internationally. He added that Qatar’s diplomatic efforts for peace are commendable and expressed hope that Doha would play a conciliatory role in easing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said his party believes any conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan would be detrimental for the people of both countries. He also emphasized the need to further strengthen economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Qatar.
Ambassador Ali bin Mubarak Al Khater said Qatar attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan and is keen to further enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
