Rulers unwilling to abolish interest-based system, IIC not being listened: Acting Emir JI
Liaqat Baloch says attack on Qatar is a message that such an attack can happen to any Islamic country
ISLAMABAD, Sep 14: Acting Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Liaqat Baloch, has said that while the Federal Shariat Court (FSC) calls for the abolition of the interest-based system, the rulers are unwilling to implement it.
Liaqat Baloch expressed these views while addressing the “Paighambar-e-Ishq-e-Azam” conference Organized by Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen and Milli Yakjehti Council. He said anti-Islamic legislation is being carried out in the country, and laws that the Islamic Ideological Council (IIC) has declared to be against Islam are still being approved.
He said the attack on Qatar, he said, is a message that such an attack can happen to any Islamic country, adding to defeat global imperialism, the Muslim world must demonstrate unity and solidarity.
Liaqat Baloch said that under the present circumstances, there is a need to foster unity and harmony among religious groups, the Ummah must unite on common grounds, and tolerance must be cultivated. He stressed that the entire leadership needs to assess why the Ummah remains divided, and why everyone fails to come together to resolve common issues. He added that at present, everyone is only concerned with themselves. Global imperialist powers have devised a plan to divide the Ummah. Regarding the Iranian Revolution, doubts and suspicions were deliberately created as part of a pre-planned conspiracy.
He further said that the leadership of the Milli Yakjehti Council laid the foundation for unity in the country and removed the distance between different sects, giving a collective message of unity. The greatest problem of the Muslim world today, he noted, is that we are not united.
Liaqat Baloch reiterated that while the Federal Shariat Court insists on ending the interest-based system, the rulers are not ready for it. Anti-Islamic legislation is being carried out, and despite the Islamic Ideological Council’s opposition to certain laws, they are still being approved under pressure from secular forces.
Speaking on Gaza, he said that Israeli aggression continues and so far 75,000 innocent Palestinians have been martyred. “When the Afghans stood firm, the U.S. and NATO faced humiliating defeat. Israel thought it could defeat Iran, but Iran’s resistance forced its failure. Similarly, India thought it could destroy Pakistan, but national unity inflicted a crushing defeat on it.” He emphasized that defeating global imperialism requires the Muslim world to show unity and solidarity.
Liaqat Baloch said that the problems of the Muslim Ummah will only be resolved when we embrace the love of the Prophet (PBUH). He noted that the people of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are weary of lawlessness, while the masses are suffering from economic hardships. He warned the rulers: “Hear this clearly—we will protect the law of blasphemy. Any legislation to provide protection to Qadianis will not be accepted.”
