What happened in 1958
- General Muhammad Ayub Khan, Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Army, obtained the resignation of President Iskander Mirza.
- Ayub Khan became the Chief Martial Law Administrator. All political parties were banned.
- All Jamaat-e-Islami offices were closed, the Bait-ul-Mal was frozen and organisational records were seized.
