What happened in 1953
- A Direct Action Committee was established in the name of protecting the Finality of Prophethood, but Jamaat did not participate in it.
- Maulana Maududi and his associates were arrested without justification. The Ameer of Jamaat was sentenced to death upon writing "The Qadiani Problem". Maulana Maududi refused to submit an appeal for mercy.
- The Bait-ul-Mal and organisational records were confiscated.
- The Inspector-General of Police was compelled to admit after due investigation that no evidence of foreign funding had been found.
- Under pressure from an international campaign, the death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.
- The Muslim Brotherhood published Maulana Maududi’s booklets in Arabic.
