Our Journey

Across more than eight decades, Jamaat has passed through martial laws, wars, imprisonments, electoral victories and defeats, ideological campaigns and humanitarian emergencies. Its leaders have faced bans, prison and even death sentences; its workers have been martyred, and its democratic mandate has repeatedly been obstructed. Yet the movement has remained committed to peaceful, constitutional and democratic struggle. Its six elected Ameers, Syed Abul A‘la Maududi, Mian Tufail Muhammad, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Syed Munawar Hasan, Siraj-ul-Haq and Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, have carried the same trust through different historical circumstances.
