Jumah Prayer

Question:

Assallam u allaikum,

I live in Ste Therese, small city out side Montreal. I have three kids, 16 year old girl, 14 year old boy & a 9 year old boy and my wife. I would like to get some information regarding shalat jumah, which is on Fridays. What should we do if my conditions as follows:

1. We hardly meet any Muslim brothers and sisters,

2. I can not find mosque; If there is one, in a lot of times we don't have transportation.

We would appreciate if we could get some directions what to do? Thank you very much,

Wassalam.

Answer:

Dear sister, Assalam-o-Alaikum wa Rehmatullah,

The salat ul JUMMAH with the ceremon is a must for every adult male Muslim. We advise you the following :

1- Ask your Employer to give you a break of 2-3 hours on Friday, you can compensate these man hours later.

2- If there is no mosque in your town, try to reach the nearest large city with a mosque at Jumah time.

3- If you find four other brothers in your town, you can perform jumma in a house or apartment.

4- Until you find the solutions to the above three items you can perform four rakats (units) of Duhar prayer instead of Jumma. We also advise you to find a job in Montreal and find a place to live within the close vicinity of the mosque. Islam asks us to live in a brotherly Islamic environment.
