LAHORE, May 09: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Syed
Munawar Hasan has said those countries could never progress whose
rulers work under foreign powers' dictation and take national
decisions sitting outside the country under foreigners' influence.
In a statement issued from Mansoorah on Friday, Munawar Hasan
expressed sorrow that ruling alliance is deliberately delaying
judges' restoration. He said prime minister released judges by
issuing orders in this regard on the floor of the House, and the
issue could have been easily solved by issuing such orders for
judges restoration also. He alleged that rulers are not sincere with
the restoration of judges and it was why they are cheating the
masses by violating electoral promises and Murree Declaration. It is
the reason they negotiate the issue sitting in Dubai and London, he
said.
Munawar said the nation is watching clearly that corruption cases
against Asif Zardari worth billions of rupees have been withdrawn
one by one, making him 'completely innocent', and it was done under
a deal between President Musharraf and PPP in Dubai made at the time
of promulgation of NRO. Munawar said PPP is strengthening the hands
of Gen Musharraf under that deal. He said this deal vindicated JI's
decision of boycotting the elections which was made on the plea that
no elections in Musharraf's presence could improve things in the
country. He said if other parties had joined hands with JI at that
time in remove Musharraf movement then things would have been much
different today, since nation would have been rid of Gen Musharraf,
judges would have been restored and real democracy would have been
installed.
Munawar also criticized MMA secretary general Maulana Fazlur Rehman
for demanding Qazi Hussain Ahmad to apologize for boycotting the
elections like he did for 17th amendment, and said JI's boycott has
been vindicated by Musharraf gaining strength following elections.
He said in fact Maulana Fazlur Rehman provided legality to the
illegal presidential elections of Gen Musharraf by refusing to
dissolve NWFP assembly.
Munawar said rulers are keeping criminal silence over Indian
conspiracy to turn Pakistan into desert by making dams after dams on
our rivers and was now even stealing Indus river water through
tunnels. He expressed sorrow that instead of taking action against
India, rulers were busy promoting trade and cultural relations with
Delhi at the cost of Pakistan's sovereignty.
