LAHORE, May 7: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Syed
Munawar Hasan has said that new rulers have shot a Tsunami of price
hike on the nation against the electoral slogans of providing relief
to the masses, while Indian government is reducing the petrol and
electricity rates besides the railway fares.
In a statement on Wednesday, he said the biggest problem of the
nation has been the corruption of the rulers and elite which forced
the nation to the worst situation, despite that there is no dearth
of resources in the country.
He said the nation has been unfortunate that none of the governments
that ruled it throughout its history has proved to be real
representatives of the masses by displaying sympathy towards common
man and commitment with justice and human rights. He said all those
who formed governments came with a mission to make money out of
public resources, thus secured the future of their generations. That
is why the nation has become indebted of billions of dollars while
individuals in the government and their kith and kin became
billionaires.
Munawar said tales of former ruler's corruption have become
surfacing, showing that they mercilessly plundered public wealth.
Citing one example, Munawar said one minister of MQM plundered Rs
450 billion in illegal sale of properties in Karachi. He said it was
ironic that the prime minister, on one hand, has ordered inquiry
into this record corruption, but on the other hand the same corrupt
and fascist organization has been included in provincial government
so that it could easily cover up its plunder and fascism.
Munawar said if an impartial commission was constituted to probe
corruption of former ministers then billions of rupees of the looted
wealth could be recovered that could not only retire all national
debts but also provide much needed relief to the masses.
