LAHORE, May 2: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer and MMA president
Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that Pakistan has turned into American
torture cell as Washington is creating hurdles in the implementation
of public mandate by blocking the restoration of independent
judiciary headed by chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhri.
Delivering Friday sermon at Mansoorah Qazi expressed sorrow that
politicians having public mandate were bowing down before American
instead of becoming voice of their nation and were afraid of taking
strong step against the establishment. Qazi warned that if Gen
Musharraf was not impeached then it would be an open humiliation of
public mandate of Feb 18.
Qazi said certain politicians were acting as hostage to their petty
interests and bowing down before Washington like slaves. He stressed
that constitutional package was a deception since ruing alliance
lacked two third majority in Senate for that, hence the judges must
be restored through executive order.
Qazi said America and Musharraf were afraid that Iftikhar Chaudhri
would order recovery of missing persons whose families were running
from pillar to post for their loved ones. He expressed sorrow that
ruling alliance was indifferent towards the plight of families of
missing persons and added that PPP and PML-N leaders did not attend
the seminar for the missing persons despite invitations.
Qazi said Gen Musharraf's impeachment must be moved immediately
since ruling alliance had the required strength of two third
majority in the joint session of Senate and National Assembly, but
on the contrary it lacked strength for passing constitutional
package which needed two third majority in both Houses separately.
Qazi said if judges were not restored then APDM would announce its
strategy on May 14.
