LAHORE, Mar 29: Jamaat-e-Islami
ameer and MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said the
announcements made by the prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani are
praiseworthy, but the nation is waiting for the detailed policies
and implementations on them.
In his response to Prime Minister's first address to the national
assembly after taking vote of confidence on Saturday, Qazi said the
policies of the prime minister need to be expanded and implemented
in every sphere of the government. He said the nation wants
immediate restoration of sacked Supreme Court judges, reversal of
cooperation in war on terror, release of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and
recovery of missing persons. Qazi said PM should have made clear
announcements in this regard and a resolution for the restoration of
judges should have been passed. He warned that if government did not
make progress towards those goals then the nation would consider it
a result of the visit of Negroponte and Richard Boucher.
Qazi emphasized that new government should stop reiterating the
American terms like terrorism and extremism, which are in fact an
anti-Islamic propaganda, and amounts to toe Bush terrorism. He said
continuation of such propaganda would make the people feel the
American policies are still continued and peace will still be
elusive in the country.
Qazi demanded withdrawal of army from tribal areas, Balochistan and
Swat, and holding dialogues with those raising arms. Qazi also
praised the abolition of FCR and said PM should have announced its
alternative immediately since the people of tribal areas must not be
left to live in vacuum. He also praised lifting of ban on labor and
students unions, and demanded that labor unions in Railways and PIA
should also have been restored. He said PM gave a ray of hope to
Kashmiri people and the nation, but said solid measures needed to be
made in this regard.
