JI appeals for observing "Day of Prophet's (PBUH) honor on 12th Rabi ul Awwal

LAHORE, Mar 7: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Syed Munawar Hasan has appealed to the nation to observe 12th of Rabi-ul Awwal as "Day of Protection of Prophet's (PBUH) honor" and hold rallies, protests and seminars across the country.

He was delivering Friday sermon at Mansoorah mosque. He said the biggest demonstration on 12 Rabiul Awwal should be held at Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad to inform the European diplomats that the followers of Ghazi Ilmuddin are still alive and love the honor and respect of their Prophet (PBUH) more than their lives. He said Muslims could never tolerate such blasphemous attempts and provocations against their prophet (PBUH) under any pretext or in the name of freedom of expression.

He appealed to the Muslim world to boycott Danish products completely and register strong protests by calling Danish ambassadors against the re-publication of blasphemous caricatures in Danish press and protection of this ugly crime by Copenhagen.

Munawar also demanded OIC to call an emergency meeting of the organization to evolve a unanimous strategy on the caricatures issue to represent the aspirations of the Muslim ummah. He also demanded that all Muslim ambassadors in UN should raise the issue inside the world body and shake the world conscience against this offensive act by the Western nations.

He said Muslims respect prophets and holy personalities of all religions and never commit offences against them since it is the teaching of Islam to respect the holy figures of all religions.

Munawar Hasan also demanded that the mandate of parties winning elections should be respected and they should be allowed to form government in the center and provinces. He said it is the duty of the winning parties to keep up their electoral promises otherwise the nation could consider them a continuation of the previous slavish regimes. He warned that any conditional restoration of supreme court judges will not be acceptable to the nation, and demanded the parties winning the elections to display sincerity with their promises of restoring the Supreme Court Judges sacked illegally by Gen Musharraf. He said Asif Zardari wants that judges should not take up NRO after restoration, while American wants that judges should not take up missing persons' cases after restoration.

Munawar Hasan also criticized the statement of Supreme Court Bar president Aitzaz Ahsan that people should forgive the massacre of May 12, 07 in Karachi. He said the nation could never forget such a bloodshed in which Karachities were subjected to by a group of people.
