Silence on Feb 5 a secular plan to shelf Kashmir issue

LAHORE, 27 January: Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Syed Munawar Hasan has blasted the Interior Ministry's secular directive to observe one minute silence on Kashmir Day [February 5] saying such announcement is mockery of the Kashmir struggle.

In a statement on Sunday the Jamaat leader said in order to appease the West; rulers are adopting secular means of paying homage to the tireless struggle of Kashmiris which is continue unabated over the past two decades. The heavy loss of men and material to kindle the Kashmiris struggle could not be acknowledged by observing one minute silence.

The Pakistani nation, he urged, should express solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren by taking out public rallies, forming human chains and keeping their business close on that day.

Syed Munawar Hasan lauded the complete strike and protest demonstrations on the India's Republic day across the line of control [Feb 26] which sent a clear a message to the world that Kashmiris are not willing to accept Indian hegemony on their land. (#)
