     JI leader apprehends rigging through jail inmate votes
 

LAHORE, Jan 08: Deputy Secretary General and Head of Jamaat-e-Islami's Election Cell Mian Maqsood Ahmad has unveiled the government's plan to rig the Feb 18 elections saying: "there are authentic reports suggest prisoners in jails are forced to give their thumb impression in duress which is going to be used in postal ballots to rig the elections.

In a statement on Tuesday Mian Maqsood Ahmad categorically stated there are more than one hundred thousand prisoners in the jails of country. Every big jail house more than ten thousand inmates. Their votes can play decisive role in making the government's favourite candidate win. Mian Sahib said this is one way where the government can do open rigging besides maneuvering elections through numerous other options.

The Jamaat leader reiterated the APDM call for boycotting Feb 18 elections as this exercise will yield no good to the country and democratic institutions in the country.(#)
