     JI leader blasts unscheduled load-shedding

LAHORE, Jan 02: Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Syed Munawar Hasan has taken strong exception to unscheduled power load shedding saying the artificial shortage of power supply has brought the economy and agriculture of the country to verge of collapse.

In a statement on Wednesday Syed Munawar Hasan said the half hour load shedding has now stretched to hours. This is forced the industrial units to shut down casting bad impact on the industry. The villages and remote areas are the worst sufferers in this regard. The wheat crop is badly affected due water shortage as tube wells virtually failed to operate due to power shedding.

The Jamaat leader said common man is facing great hardships in getting flour. He said after breaching the peace of country now certain quarters are out to destroy the economy of Pakistan. Holding the President Pervez Musharaf responsible for all out mess in the country therefore he should immediately quit the power.

Syed Munawar Hasan demanded formation of an independent election commission, which should commit the holding of elections under national consensus interim government. He urged all the opposition parties to boycott the fraud elections and forge greater unity in their ranks to launch a grand anti-government drive, which should culminate at the resignation of Pervez Musharaf.
