President behind events of last two days: Qazi

LAHORE, Apr 10: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer and MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that President's House is behind the violent incidents of the last two days including manhandling of politicians and violence in Karachi.

Addressing a function of mansoorah hospital here Thursday Qazi Hussain Ahmad said all conspiracies are being hatched under the supervision of Gen retd Pervez Musharraf who is trying hard to save his power. Qazi emphasized that MQM wants to give Wednesday's violence as a clash between two sides while the fact is that MQM hooligans attacked lawyers and burnt them alive along with offices, vehicles etc. All that happened soon after the meeting of Attorney General Malik Qayum with MQM chief Altaf Hussain in London, he said.

Qazi asked media not to portray Karachi violence as a clash and expose the hooliganism of MQM. He warned that MQM is playing into the hands of colonists and conspirators to destroy the country. Qazi further emphasized that MQM had no public mandate since the party had lost its confidence among people due to politics of murders, violence and hooliganism. He said we don't accept Karachi's election results since they were bogus and it has become clear after the incidents of May 12, 07 that Gen Musharraf had protected MQM terrorism for his own purposes.

Qazi demanded immediate implementation of Murree declaration to restore all the judges and to save the country from further conspiracies. He said no legal or constitutional complication is involved in Judges restoration because the Nov 2, 07 measures were unconstitutional and could be reversed with a simple executive order. He said Gen Musharraf had become a traitor according to the constitution after his Nov 2 measures and should be awarded the punishment provided by the Article 6 of the Constitution for the traitors.

Qazi said new government has not displayed its sovereignty so far. He said if it is a democratic government then its first job would be to restore judges and release Dr Qadeer Khan. He expressed sorrow that restrictions on Dr Qadeer Khan were tightened after foreign minister asked them to be eased, and telephone facility has also been withdrawn from him.

To a question, Qazi said JI will contests next general elections with a radical manifesto.
