LAHORE, Apr 7: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer and MMA president
Qazi Hussain Ahmad has warned the leadership of the PPPP not to give
an impression of themselves as 'an extension of PML-Q' since it
would cause serious blow to the efforts towards brining about a
national reconciliation.
Qazi was addressing party office bearers from FATA and other
officials of tribal areas at a workshop here Monday, says a party
spokesman through a press release.
Qazi expressed sorrow that series of recent statements by PPPP
office bearers and ministers have supported the impression that only
faces have changed at the top while PPPP has replaced PML-Q to
continue the old system of Gen Musharraf's pro-American and
anti-people policies. Qazi said if the situation was not changed
then it would become extremely difficult for the APDM, lawyers
community, civil society and media to stay quiet, since masses
wanted change of system and policies instead of mere changing the
faces and the parties.
Qazi warned that conspiracies were being hatched at the top to get
rid of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhri in the name of
constitutional amendments package. He cautioned the rulers against
such a misadventure and advised them to refrain from playing with
the national sentiments by removing Justice Iftikhar Chaudhri from
the national scene. He criticized the delaying tactics being used in
the way of restoration of supreme court judges.
He termed Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan as a 'real national asset' and
national hero, emphasizing that rulers must release him immediately
and restore his prestigious status and honor. Qazi said if judges
were not restored, Gen Musharraf was made to continue and Pakistan
Army continued to be a tool in American war against terror then a
tough reaction from the nation would be witnessed by the rulers and
they could not be able to save themselves from public wrath.
