Judges will never be restored if not in 30 days: Qazi

LAHORE, Apr 4: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer and MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmad has reminded all the parties of the present government that they got votes from the nation on the promise of restoring the judges illegally sacked by Gen Musharraf. "If the judges were not restored within one month, then they will not be restored in the next five years and it will be a great injustice and violation of promise with the nation," he said while replying to newsmen queries and addressing the General Council meeting of National Labor Federation at Mansoorah on Friday.

Qazi said all the opposition parties during their election campaign had promised that they would hold the then ruling parties accountable for the May 12 massacre in Karachi. "But now PPP and MQM have announced to forgive each other. Can somebody tell where the victims of May 12 massacre should go now to seek justice," he said.

Qazi said even PPP demanded investigation into May 12 mayhem in Karachi and also announced in London APC that no party would join hands with MQM, but it was strange the party has now joined hands with the same party. He said now who would hold the culprits of May 12 accountable, he asked.

Qazi said the government must restore the judges sacked by Gen Musharraf, and also restore the decision of seven judges of the supreme court who declared null and void Gen Musharraf's action on Nov 2, 07.

Referring to the statement of Defence Minister Chaudhri Ahmad Mukhtar in support of Gen retd Pervez Musharraf, Qazi Hussain Ahmad said it showed that PPP had entered into a secret deal with Gen Musharraf and now PPPP had replaced PML-Q as his ally. He warned that unless supreme judiciary and media is not were not made independent, no other liberties could have been achieved.

He said most of the political parties in the country were occupied by feudal lords and capitalists who were practicing the American agenda and wanted to enforce the same in the country. He urged upon the workers community to join hands for launching a decisive struggle to rid the country of the American agenda being implemented by the feudals and capitalists.

To a question, Qazi said the biggest terrorist in the world was America itself which has been behind the massacre of millions of innocent civilians in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries of the world, and still committing the same terrorism relentlessly and shamelessly with the help of media and its agent rulers in the Muslim world. Qazi emphasized that it was beyond the powers of Pakistan Army to establish peace in tribal areas of Pakistan, Swat and balochistan, since this objective could only be achieved through peaceful dialogue. He said the situation worsened only because Gen Musharraf brought the American inside our territories, adding that Gen Musharraf is not only deceiving the America but also collecting money for himself by throwing Pakistani people into deep kinds of trouble. He expressed sorrow that Gen Musharraf had subjugated Pakistan's independence, sovereignty and unity to the American administration. He warned that Pakistan could not regain its status as independent sovereign state unless its foreign, internal and defense policies were made according to country's own interests.

To another question, Qazi said his party would continue to review the policies and measures of the present rulers, adding that people of Pakistan would never tolerate if rulers' policies were found against national interests.

To a question about Kashmir, Qazi said the Kashmiri leaders visiting Pakistan these days were not genuine legitimate representatives of Kashmiri people, adding that genuine representatives of Kashmiris were Syed Ali Gilani. He also urged upon All Parties Hurriyet Conference leadership that they should get united and demand solving Kashmir issue according to UN resolutions and Kashmiris' genuine leadership must be included in negotiations at every level.
