LAHORE, Aug 23: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Qazi Hussain
Ahmad has made telephonic contacts with PML-N leader Mian Nawaz
Sharif and Prime Minister's advisor on interior affairs, Rehman
Malik, on Saturday and discussed with them the prevailing situation
in the country particularly the human catastrophe created by
military operation and bombardment by Pakistan Army in Bajaur
Agency.
According to a press release issued by JI Media Cell, Qazi Hussin
Ahmad told Nawaz Sharif that bombings have left the entire Bajaur
area vacated by the citizens as tens of thousands of refugees have
moved to nearby areas and taken shelter under open sky without any
help from government sector.
Qazi urged Mian Nawaz Sharif to use his good offices to stop
bombings on Bajaur villages and help the refugees return to their
homes.
According to press release, Nawaz Sharif assured Qazi Hussain Ahmad
that he would discuss the matter with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza
Gilani.
In his talk with Rehman Malik, Qazi expressed his reservations on
the military operation and bombings in Bajaur villages, and lodge
strong protest on it. Qazi said instead of stopping the military
operation of Gen Musharraf, the democratic rulers sent in more army.
He warned that government is sowing a crop of hatred among the
tribal people by spraying bullets and bombs upon innocent men, women
and children, and it is highly dangerous for the national security.
He said fighting other's war has turned the country into a hell of
fire and now nobody's life and property is safe as masses are under
suffering from strong sense of insecurity and uncertainty. Drawing
Rehman Malik's attention towards Kurram Agency's situation, Qazi
said instead of target the tribal people the government should
identify the organized gangs involved in arson and assassinations.
According to press release, Rehman Malik assured Qazi Hussain Ahmad
that bombardment in Bajaur would be stopped and relief camps would
be set up for refugees in Malakand and Dir.
