JI warns caretakers against petrol price hike

LAHORE, Nov 24: JI deputy secretary general Dr Farid Paracha has warned that if caretaker rulers increased petrol prices by taking advantage of the absence of parliament and judiciary besides public attention on political movement, it will never be accepted.
In a statement on Saturday, Paracha said the government already increased the prices of gas which put huge burden on poor households and middle class people, and now the rulers are thinking of raising petrol and diesel prices.

Paracha said billions of rupees deposited with the government in the name of Petroleum Levy are there for the very purpose that no burden of oil price hike in world market should be transferred to the poor people. He said government collects Rs 30 per liter tax on petrol which could be cut down to balance the price hike in world market.
