LAHORE, Nov 23: Jamaat Islami
secretary general Syed Muanwar Hasan has warned that rulers have
prepared the election results before hand and all the opposition
parties must chalk out a unanimous strategy to counter electoral
rigging.
He was delivering Friday sermon at Mansoorah mosque. Munawar said at
one hand the opposition parties have been politically handicapped by
imposing emergency, bulldozing judiciary, arresting leaders and
workers and banning media, while on the other hand, the ruling
parties have been provided all facilities and administrative support
for running election campaigns.
He said besides the seriously unstable situation in NWFP,
Balochistan and tribal areas where army is killing countrymen, the
Sindh has literally been given into the hands of MQM which had
played havoc with the lives of people during the last five years.
Munawar said a major political wrestling is being staged in Punjab
province which is being considered highly important for the
electoral success of the ruling party. He said establishment knows
that Q-League alone cannot defeat PPP, therefore PML-N is being
pushed forward under this compulsion. Munawar advised the PML-N
leadership to remain vigilant in view of this conspiracy, adding
that Islamic groups and parties are also being confused by the
government through different kinds of announcements. He said some
groups are prepared not to leave the field open for the rulers but
some others are saying that contesting elections under dictatorial
rules and regulations would mean tightening the rulers' grip further
against one's self. Munawar advised the religious parties to make a
cautious progress between the two extreme stances.
He said western powers are extremely afraid of the political system
of Islam and want that Muslims should keep Islam only in their
private lives. This is the reason western powers resist Muslim
movement to make political successes, and leaders of Islamic
movements are being asked if they would abide by the rules of the
game. He said the most dangerous propaganda against Muslim movements
is that they would enforce Islam on gun point, which is aimed at
sabotaging the Islamic movements from within.
