LAHORE, Nov 20: Jamat-e-Islami (JI)
Pakistan women wing staged a protest demonstration outside JI
headquarters Mansoora on Tuesday against the imposition of state of
emergency in the country.
The demonstrators were led by JI women wing office bearers including
wife of JI Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Samia Raheel Qazi, Aafia Sarwar,
Humaira Tariq and Humaira Ihtisham, RAbia Tariq, Unaiza Khalid,
Tahira Maqsood and others. The demonstration was participated by
large number of women workers who were raising slogans and holding
banners and placards.
Addressing the participants, the JI women wing leaders condemned Gen
Musharraf for imposing state of emergency in the country to save
himself from being declared ineligible to contest presidential
elections by the supreme court.
They condemned the dictator for prolonging his tenure under various
pretexts and demanded that the constitution should be restored
without any further delay.
They also said that the government should restore the status of the
Judiciary as it was before the imposition of emergency and all the
arrested workers of the political and religious parties and members
of the legal fraternity should be released as soon as possible
without any discrimination.
