End of Military rule very close: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, Nov. 2: Jamaat Islami Punjab ameer Liaqat Baloch said that the feelers about Emergency, PCO and Martial law suggest that military rulers have realized they cannot last any longer against the growing public demand for them to quit power.

He was talking with newsmen on Friday at the 3-day JI members convention at Shamki Bhattian. He asked for how long the army could use cannon and guns against 160 million people of Pakistan. He said the final battle for the rights of people will be fought on the streets and people will never accept any extra-constitutional measure.

He said MMA is a religious alliance and any mistake of temporary political measure will never deviate the alliance from its long term goal of Shariah enforcement. He said next MMA supreme council meeting will remove all misunderstandings and difficulties among the allies besides chalking out a collective strategy to struggle against the military dictatorship.

He said law and order situation got worse in Tribal Areas, Balochistan and Swat only because of the incompetence of the rulers and their managers who tried to control public sentiments through bullets. He said Jamai Hafsa massacre was one of the worst measures and tragedy by the military rulers. Similarly, he said, the bomb blasts in Karachi, Islamabad, and other areas of the country were also part of the serious conspiracy against the country.

He said the military rulers and their allies implementing US agenda in the country are bound to fail in the coming elections since people want Shariah in the country and will reject them completely. He said Gen Musharraf and Benazir Bhutto have caused serious damage to the country by implementing US agenda.

He said Gen Musharraf invited doubts and suspicion by not holding judiciary inquiry into the Karachi massacre of May 12 and bomb blasts of Nov 18. However, he said, the Suo Moto notice of Supreme Court on Karachi blasts was a welcome measure and now all eyes are on the apex court. He said the JI workers convention will cast far reaching effects on national politics and provide a new direction to the people to struggle against the dictators and realize their rights.
