Resolution on
Secularization of Education
LAHORE, Jan 9:
Jamaat-e-Islami Central Council (Shoora) has expressed grave
concern over government’s measures taken in education sector
particularly the changes in syllabus made last year on the
behest of western lobbies in order to secularize the
educational foundations of the country.
In a resolution the Shoora observed that millions of patriot
and Islam loving countrymen are viewing government’s
education policies with extreme displeasure because they
feel that the vital and sensitive sector like education is
being deprived of the Islamic ideology which was the
foundation of the country under a western conspiracy. These
countrymen feel their sentiments deeply hurt because of
systematic promotion of secular elements and retrenchment of
Islamic elements in the education sector.
The Shoora lodged strong protest with the government for its
deliberate violations of Article 2-A and 31 of the
constitution which demand that the government is bound to
take measures to provide all facilities to the citizens to
mould their lives collectively and individually according to
the teachings of Islam, and to take steps for making
compulsory education of Quran, Sunnah and the Arabic
language.
It observed that the whole range of government measures in
the education sector last year were an ample proof to expose
the conspiracy of western lobby to secularize the education
sector, in which contents promoting Islam and Pakistan
ideology were excluded while provocative matter against the
Islamic teachings was included in its place, publishing of
syllabus was deregulated to allow private and foreign
publishers free hand, allowing US investments and
‘academicians’ to influence all educational institutions in
the country under the garb of Aga Khan Board, vicious
propaganda against religious seminaries, and full fledged
promotion of western culture is being made through
electronic media.
The Shoora demanded the government that instead of violating
the constitutional requirements and public aspirations it
should announce following them in order to bring education
system in harmony with the requirements of Islam and
Pakistan ideology, and announce its outright rejection of
the unjustified pressure of world powers in this regard. In
order to take a just review of the primary and secondary
syllabi a committee comprising patriotic experts from all
walks of society should be constituted which should redefine
the objectives of every subject at every level in the light
of the scope of Quran and Sunnah by exercising our
internationally acknowledged principles.
It also demands banning all foreign publishers so that
syllabus books could be brought in line with the national
objectives and ideology, and that all books should be
published according to the old syllabus of 2003 while all
changes made during 2004 which were rejected by the nation
and the parliament must be removed from the syllabus books.
