Resolution on
Exploitation of Women

LAHORE, Jan 9: Jamaat-e-Islami Central Council (Shoora) has expressed deep concern at the exploitation of the women in the name of catchy western slogans of emancipation and gender equality, and demands the government take genuine measures to provide protection, rights and basic facilities like health and education to women closer to their homes so that their honor and privacy could be ensured according to Islamic principles.
In a resolution, the Shoora observed that world powers are all out to conquer the whole world through implementing the basic agenda of enforcing secular culture. Women and family act as the basic units of Muslim society. Woman is the foundation stone of whole edifice of Islam, upon whose correction depends the correction of whole Muslim society.
The torch bearers of western civilization are using all available weapons in the fields of education, culture, economy, military and media to promote immorality and waywardness in the Muslim society. It is imperative upon the Muslim world to redefine the strategies and chalk out future line of action for protecting the unit of family and Muslim women.
The Shoora observed that Pakistani women are the victim of double exploitation and coercion. Illiteracy has deprived her of knowledge and awareness, while rampant unemployment has deprived her of peace of mind and security by imposing on her the burden of economy and throwing her into the market competition to earn livelihood for the family. Absence of Justice system has deprived her all her rights while negative use of media has badly damaged her honor and security accorded to her by Islam.
The Shoora noted that despite providing 33 per cent seats in the parliament and elected bodies has brought no change the situation of the women in Pakistan as they are still deprived of all basic rights like education, health, security, and honor.
The Shoora demands that:
1-Seeking education be made easier for women
2-Access of every household to health and sanitation facilities be ensured
3-women’s rights within the family like dower, share in inheritance, alimony, and security be ensured through legal implementation of such provisions
4-Honor of women on electronic media should be ensured by subjecting clothes, dialogues etc to Islamic codes of decency
5-The role of mother, wife, sister and daughter be propagated through media in the light of Islamic culture
6-Services of women inside their home should be acknowledged as contribution towards economic progress and security and honor of women and workplace must be ensured
7-Medieval customs and traditions in the society should be abolished
