Qazi Hussain Ahmad opening address to JI shoora Lahore, Dec. 31: Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) president and Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that the country has no political system. There is no Judiciary and Election commission has lost public confidence. Constitutional institutions have become weak. No way out seems to exist within parliament to ameliorate the state of affairs. Now some way out has to be searched by making an appeal to the people to get rid of the remnants of martial law and affairs of state, politics and political institutions should run according to constitution. He was delivering his inaugural address to the meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami Shoora at Mansoorah on Saturday. The three-day meeting will discuss country's political, economic and law and order situation to evolve future strategy. Qazi said the "magic" displayed by present administrations in the local government and by elections show that if next general elections were held under Gen Musharraf then their results would not be different. He said the country suffered from historic and disastrous earthquake but whole nation helped the affected people collectively and it showed that religious parties are the real power of the country because people gathered around them. This fact was acknowledged and foreign super powers expressed their concerns about religious elements which led the Nato and US forces to enter into the country to keep an eye over the religious groups. Qazi said the intervention of military into politics has affected its defense capacities which came to light at the earthquake. He said law and order situation in the country is becoming worse every passing day. After Karachi, the crimes of murder and dacoities have increased in Lahore also. Victims and people have no place to complain. Judiciary has become paralyzed. Even nobody comes to court in political matters because its public confidence has been lost. Courts never give decision against government in case of violation of the constitution. Election commission has become a joke. Government claims about having an independent Election commission but on the other hand it takes decisions about Election commission's affairs from High courts. He said at one hand government has made controversial the certificates of Deeni Madaris while on the other there are people sitting in the assemblies who has fake university degrees having no record with the universities. He said army has taken control of every civil institution with which people are not happy. Gen Musharraf says in arrogant manner that he will decide to remove military uniform after 2007. He has raised Kalabagh Dam issue just to divert attention from the real issues in the country. His approach has made other provinces come against Punjab. He said all provinces agree upon Bhasha Dam and if dams are necessary then any one on which all provinces agree should be built. But other dams are not being considered and emphasis is being made on Kalabagh dam because their aim is to make all provinces fight against one another and allow time to Gen Musharraf to continue his rule. This is aggravating the tension between the provinces and it is being highlighted in the press. Qazi said US is not only interfering in our security matters but also wants to change our education system. Quranic verses and other material against colonists and India from the syllabus is being removed. Urdu medium is being abolished and only English and regional languages are being enforced in order to eliminate country's solidarity. First Aga Khan Board was established to secularize the education and now Aga Khan University is being established with a greater budget than entire education budget of the country. He said people will have to do something to maintain our ideology, and religious and cultural identity. He said Indian grip on Kashmir is getting stronger. Line of Control has been opened at five points but it was pre decided and has no connection with the earthquake. He warned that conspiracies are being made to change LoC into international borders. He said Kashmir day on Feb 5 will be celebrated with full enthusiasm to pledge to counter the conspiracies against Kashmir. Conferences and public meetings will be held. Qazi said it is not justified to leave the situation as it is by allowing the conspiracies to be implemented. He said draft legislation will be presented before national assembly to make reforms in Judiciary and election commission and to pull the country out of the present crisis. |
