Paracha
slams hike in PoL prices
Lahore,
Dec 19:
Jamaat-e-Islami deputy secretary general Dr. Farid Paracha has
criticized the government for charging exorbitant rate of fuel
from the people despite a sharp drop in oil prices in the world
market.
In a
statement Monday, Dr Paracha said Oil companies' mafia in
connivance with the government was exacting from the poor people
of the country oil rates according to the rate fixed by US West
Texas International. Whereas, Pakistan purchased its oil from
Middle East where rates were ten dollars per barrel less than that
of the US, he said.
He
said fixing oil prices according to US rates was a fraud and
cheating with the poor countrymen, and added that more condemnable
was the apathy towards the plight of the people despite hue and
cry in the parliament over the unjustified oil prices. He said the
indifference of oil companies and government towards public
grievances showed they care not an iota for the masses.
He
demanded that petroleum minister should implement his promise to
reduce oil prices made on parliament floor while replying to a
query by him. |
