'Self
Governance' amounts to surrendering before India: Prof Khurshid
Lahore,
Dec. 8: Jamaat-e-Islami
Naib Ameer Senator Prof Khurshid Ahmad has criticized Pakistani
government for presenting the idea of 'self governance' for
Kashmir by giving up UN resolutions and right to self
determination for Kashmiris, saying it amount to surrendering
before India's hegemony in the region.
In
a statement Thursday, Senator Khurshid Ahmad said the self
governance was an Indian option and a shape of annexing with India
by accepting the Indian supremacy. He expressed wonder why
Pakistani government is advising Kashmiris to seek their rights
inside Indian constitutional framework.
He
also criticized some Kahsmiri leaders for demanding United States
of Kashmir and presence of NATO forces etc. He said the freedom
struggle in Kashmir is aimed at resisting against the Indian
military occupation of the state achieving the right to self
determination guaranteed by UN resolutions. He said tens of
thousands of Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives for complete
independence and not for the sake of mere some political and
administrative rights from India. He said the freedom struggle
will continue as long as Indian occupation is there. He warned
that the criminal U-turn Pakistan has taken on Kashmir cause on
the pressure of Washington can cause a serious accident to the
Kashmiris freedom struggle. He further warned Islamabad and those
who participated in this crime that they will always be remembered
as traitors and history will never forgive them.
