JI
lodges protest with Copenhagen against the blasphemous cartoon
Lahore,
Dec. 5: Jamaat-e-Islami
has lodged serious protest with the Government of Denmark against
the publication of a blasphemous cartoon about Holy Prophet (PBUH)
in a Danish newspaper that deeply hurt feelings of Muslims across
the world.
The
JI leadership demanded of Copenhagen to take serious action
against the Cartoonist and the management of the paper besides
making a clear and unconditional apology with the Muslims.
JI
Secretary General Syed Munawar Hasan has written a letter to
Danish ambassador in Islamabad Bent Wigotski raising serious
protest against the derogatory cartoon about the most sacred
personality in Islam in the Danish newspaper Jullands Posten. He
said the said cartoon was not only highly blasphemous but insulted
whole Muslim ummah by deeply hurting the sentiments of Muslims
across the world who are undergoing serious pain as a result of
that.
Munawar
Hasan also categorically denied the reports in Danish press that
his party had announced reward for killing or avenging the
concerned cartoonist. He termed those reports as baseless,
misleading and a slander on the party. He said JI had never ever
issued such an announcement, adding that any individual might have
hurled threats after getting enraged on the highly offensive
cartoon but it could not be deemed as JI's policy.
Munawar
Hasan said the cartoon attempted to disfigure the face of Islam in
the west by ridiculing the most pious and revered personality I
the human history, which JI condemned with all intensity. He said
people of Pakistan wanted to keep bilateral relations with Denmark
on the basis of equality and principles of mutual respect and
consideration. He expressed hopes that Danish government would
take necessary action against the paper and the cartoonist to
pacify the sentiments of Muslim ummah.
